INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE - PLEASE SEE OUR NEWSLETTER FOR THE FULL STORY!
On 14th and 15th May 2009 we were delighted, in partnership with London Fire Brigade, to host a two day international conference in London. This was attended by representatives of over 20 different services and allied organisations. The themes for the conference had emerged from feedback generated from practitioners and included child protection, mental health issues, risk assessment, management and recruitment. We were delighted to welcome back one of the world’s leading experts in the fields of fire setting and child protection for his third visit to the UK. Professor David Kolko was the headline speaker for both days and we remain grateful to him for his continued enthusiasm and support. What was interesting in this conference was the request that participants be kept updated in relation to developments in this field - which include soon-to-be-launched fire specific risk assessments. Joanna Foster, London Fire Brigade, Juvenile Firesetters Intervention Scheme Co-ordinator, has already sent out delegate contact lists. We undertook to use our web site for this purpose and would welcome comment and feedback which we would be happy to post on the site from time to time.
