Fire & Rescue Service

We have provided training for, and worked in partnership with, most of the services in the UK. Utilising our relationships with a wide range of consultants and experts, CCF have also hosted a number of very successful conferences and seminars on fire-related behaviours. (see news) We are currently developing a suite of assessments, in partnership with Prof. David Kolko, which will assist front line staff in identifying key factors associated with fire setting and aid intervention planning.

Assessment

As well as the developments noted above we also provide assessments for identifying Needs,  Anti-SocialAttitudes, Feelings, Attitudes & Behaviour, Emotional Intelligence.

Our staff are approved trainers for a wide range of validated assessment instruments.  

Effective Practice Skills

Our work in partnership with Professor Chris Trotter of Monash University, Australia, to develop Pro Social Modelling training is highly regarded throughout the UK. We have introduced a ‘training for trainers’ model and other recent developments include the provision of a Family Problem Solving module. 

The CCF has also hosted a number of highly successful national and international conferences, as well as local seminars on a wide range of ‘effective practice’ themes.

Programmes

In partnership with Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service we designed ‘Firesafe’, an intervention programme for Young Firesetters which has now been successfully delivered by many Fire and Rescue Services in the UK. As well as our range of offending interventions, we also have a programme for those involved in Car Crime. 

Core Skills Training

The Centre has developed a range of training courses in response to the growing research agenda and feedback from front line managers and practitioners.  Currently these include Motivational Interviewing, Groupwork, Introduction to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Using the P-SCAN and Risk/Need Assessment principles. 

Consultancy

As well as our range of training courses and assessments we provide consultancy services to a number of Fire and Rescue Services. These range from research and evaluation to advising on intervention and programme implementation issues.
