Training
Training to Deliver Programmes Our view, shared by or consultants is that it is unethical
to attempt to deliver programmes such as those described above without proper
training. We have designed training courses specific to each of the programmes.
These courses are delivered by our own trainers who have in depth knowledge
of the programme and its theoretical underpinning. The courses are highly
interactive and require potential programme deliverers to demonstrate an ability
to do so. This course has been developed for organisations
seeking to introduce their staff to cognitive behavioural approaches. Using
techniques that are utilized in cognitive behavioural programmes we have developed
two, three or four day modules The elements covered are: Developing Groupwork Skills in Support of
Programme Delivery The wide range of groupwork skills required with
human services and the equally varied settings in which they are applied,
requires training and development that takes account of the particular needs
of each agency. The training package will be tailored to meet their requirements

Robert Ross
Professor Robert Ross from the University
of Ottawa, the author of the original "Reasoning and Rehabilitation"
Programme. Robert Ross was one of the Pioneers of the "What
Works" movement in criminal justice and remains a major influence
in the field. He is working with the Centre to produce a new generation
of programmes for working with offenders.

Chris Trotter
Dr. Chris Trotter of Monash University,
Australia whose recent work on prosocial modelling has been demonstrated
to have wide ranging applications in the fields of work with families
and children, child protection and criminal justice. Chris has worked
with the Centre to produce a prosocial modelling training programme.
John
Weekes
John Weekes of the Department
of Corrections in Canada. John Weekes is currently the co-ordinator
of the drug strategy for the Correctional Service of Canada and
Adjunct research professor of Forensic Psycology at Carleton University,
Ottawa. He is the author of numerous books and articles and a key
member of the team that developed the gold standard substance misuse
programme.
