Professor Robert Ross

Professor Robert Ross from the University of Ottawa, the author of the original "Reasoning and Rehabilitation" Programme. Robert Ross was one of the Pioneers of the "What Works" movement in criminal justice and remains a major influence in the field. He is working with the Centre to produce a new generation of programmes for working with offenders.

Dr Chris Trotter

Dr. Chris Trotter of Monash University, Australia whose recent work on prosocial modelling has been demonstrated to have wide ranging applications in the fields of work with families and children, child protection and criminal justice. Chris has worked with the Centre to produce a prosocial modelling training programme.

John Weekes

John Weekes of the Department of Corrections in Canada. John Weekes is currently the co-ordinator of the drug strategy for the Correctional Service of Canada and Adjunct research professor of Forensic Psycology at Carleton University, Ottawa. He is the author of numerous books and articles and a key member of the team that developed the gold standard substance misuse programme.

For young people in trouble and young parents where children are at risk.

• Anger misdirected and displaced can lead to difficult problems ill health.
• Anger is often the cause of inappropriate behaviour.
• Anger is frequently seen as a cause and not a symptom
• When the underlying emotions are understood and strategies for dealing with them are in place, life becomes less stressful and less problematic.
• When anger triggers and biological functions are understood they can be modified and positively managed.
• When we learn to treat negative emotions as "helpers" and not fear them we can relax and enjoy life more..

• Start to see what patterns they are following
• Be able to identify their triggers
• Will have improved their communications skills
• Will learn new strategies for dealing with their anger
• Will have a better understanding of self-esteem and how we can improve it
• Will have new ideas of dealing with difficult situations.
